On Tuesday, the MYP math, science and art teachers coordinated Imagine’s very own S.T.E.A.Mfest event -science, technology, engineering, art and math, that is- from 5:30 to 7:30 in the MPR. There were tons of innovative and impressive projects created by students all through MYP, from an experiment about whether solar powered iPhone chargers are cost-effective to an artistic demonstration of the revolution of the bicycle.
I walked around and talked to students about their projects and, as usual, was taken aback by the level of talent in the room. When was the last time you had a full 10 minute conversation with an 9th grade student about the various impacts of melting ice caps? This was just one of the multiple engaging conversations I got to have with impressively- informed MYP students- these kids have done their research! In all, it was a successful event coordinated by MYP teachers and proved to be the perfect way to showcase some of our Imagine students’ awesome (and versatile) scientific experiments and artistic investigations to parents.
I’ve taken some of my favorite projects (and there were a lot!) and made them into a photo-set. I also took some video interviews, so stay tuned for those in a separate article. Enjoy!
