This is the digital age, I know. Kids these days spend hours that should be spent in the sun-shine or with friends on their iPhones, and I’m here to change that. Since we have a week off from school, I challenge you to log out of Instagram and put your phone away for the week. There’s tons to do in McKinney: here are 3 cool places to go make some lasting memories over the break.
#1: Downtown Mckinney
If you’re interested in history but are also looking for a fun time, Downtown McKinney is the place for you. Though it’s not too far from our school, it’s like a whole other universe. There’s great food, live music, shopping, and even an old county jail! (And if you’re lucky, you can go on a tour and learn about some of the inmates who lived there!) There are tons of delicious restaurants, and with all the different options between Mexican, Italian and even a few completely organic places, there’s something for everyone. And for the kids there are 2 special treats: the first is the famous magic store and the second is Mom and Pops, a candy/popcorn store with delicious treats! Downtown McKinney is a great way to learn something new about the history of your city during the break.
#2: Main Event
Do you like video games, but want to get out of the house for a while? Well, Main Event is the place for you! There are classic arcade games and some new games. Also there are not only video games, but Bumper Cars, Lazer Tag, and bowling as well. And the food is amazing, too- with tons of options from pizza to wings to chicken tenders to mozzarella sticks. It’s a great place to go with the family and have a healthy sibling-bowling match, or with your gamer friends to see who can rack up the most points. The closest one to Mckinney is in Frisco: the address is 9375 Dallas Parkway, Frisco TX. See you there!
#3: Bahama Bucks
Got a sweet tooth? Well, does a snow cone interest you? And what do you know, I know just where to get one… Bahama Bucks! Located right next to the school and featuring more than 100 snow-cone flavors, it’s perfect. And Spring Break is the best time to go, because the weather is just warm enough to sit out at their lounging area and eat your sweet treat!
Whether or not you choose to take my advice and check out these places is up to you. But if you’re going to take away one thing from my message to you, here it is: put your phone down and live in the moment. There’s only one Spring Break 2016 and it’ll only last so long!
